The State Bar of California announced on August 13th that the administration of the Bar Exam will change from Feb. 2025. According to the article, the State Bar of California contracted with Kaplan Exam Services that Kaplan will provide multiple choice questions, essay exams, and performance test questions so that applicants will be able to take exam remotely or in test-center. In addition, this change allows the State Bar of California to reduce its admission costs and help save Admission fund which would reach insolvency in 2026 if the current way of administration by using a large convention center continued. Multiple choice questions will depart from MBE (Multistate Bar Examination) so question contents might change but I would like to understand this change will be favorable to foreign applicants like me because I may be able to take the Bar Exam in Japan. Heading to Los Angeles by plane for 12 hours and taking exam with heavy jet lag always annoyed me when I took exams twice in the past. Cal Bar. took questionnaire from applicants after finishing the exam and asked applicants that they would be pleasant if they could take exam remotely. I always answered yes (I would like to take exam remotely), so my favor would come true. Anyway, all I have to do is just study, so I will prepare for the Exam whatever comes. I am posting this message to share information about administration changes to other applicants.
